Justine Rhee D.C.
Dr. Justine Rhee was born in Seoul, South Korea. To better her future, her family immigrated to United States. Growing up in Bronx, NY, she was the first of her family to adopt the language and culture. To further her academics, her father relocated the family to a safer and highly competitive high school in Irvine, California.
A decision that later resulted to her acceptance to the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Rhee would graduate in 2002 with a bachelor degree in Biological Sciences. During later years of undergraduate studies, she realized that her philosophy of health was not congruent to the reality of modern medicine. Medication and surgery did not seem to be the answer to healthy living, let alone preventing illness.
While reevaluating her own path in health, Dr. Rhee’s mother had lost all function with her dominant arm. This condition prevented her from keeping up with daily activities and her own health. Her mother sought help for several months from medical doctors, physical therapists, and even acupuncturists; but at no avail. Then chiropractic was suggested. Within one visit her right arm started to come back to life. Within one month she regained full function. It was her mother who convinced Dr. Rhee that this would be the path she’d been searching for.
All she wanted to do was to be hands on in the healing arts and not knowing what true chiropractic entitles, she disregarded her mother’s suggestion. Fortunately, her mother continued to pursue this choice of work for Dr. Rhee and finally decided to at least learn more about it before making a final decision. Dr. Rhee discovered a whole new world of hands on health care that is 100% natural and not to mention the one-on-one relationship she could have with each of her patients.
In 2003, Dr. Rhee was accepted to Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, at the Southern California University of Health Sciences. Here she would be introduced to the work of Clarence Selmer Gonstead. The Gonstead System allowed her to look at the body beyond its mechanistic ways, and into the vitalistic side. Although science is extremely important in physiological point of view, she also believes that it is the in-born healing power which resides in each individual that gives the body life; INNATE INTELLIGENCE. Gonstead Chiropractic provided science, art and most importantly the philosophy in understanding the body beyond what is seen on the surface. This is the shift in the paradigm of health that marked a new chapter in her journey. Dr. Rhee graduated in 2007 with a doctorate degree in Chiropractic.
As she continued to search for more answers, beyond what was offered at the college, she discovered her true passion within chiropractic; CHILDREN. This led her to pursue a post-doctorate internship with Dr. Cherie Goble, an international instructor in pediatric chiropractic and co-author of the Pediatric Chiropractic textbook. After the completion of the internship, Dr. Rhee was fortunate enough to start her own practice in the beautiful neighborhood of Pasadena, where she has been helping people better their health since 2009. Her devotion to this work is shown through her patients each day; and every year she donates her time and money by traveling to 3rd world countries to bring chiropractic care to those less fortunate.

Jean has been working at Innate Chiropractic & Children Wellness as a chiropractic assistant since 2014. She graduated from Cal Poly, Pomona with a B.A. in Psychology with hopes of specializing in pediatric care. This practice has allowed her to interact with amazing people, including kids, and hear their chiropractic stories. She has seen first-hand the benefits of chiropractic care by getting regular adjustments herself.
Not only has she been more aware of her health and posture, but she also learned that chiropractic care is the key to functioning at her highest potential.
When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is a homebody, but hand her a ticket and she will travel anywhere.
Kama's journey to chiropractic started with her desire to prevent an invasive surgery to her spine. She always sought holistic ways of taking care of her mind and body. The invasive surgery would have been to manage her spinal condition of scoliosis. Chiropractic was the answer!
In 2016, Kama began seeing Dr. Rhee to help manage her scoliosis. After years of care, Kama is now able to enjoy Olympic weightlifting with relative ease.
From the experience of being a patient of Dr. Rhee, she developed aspirations of becoming a Gonstead chiropractor which led to joining the team at Innate Chiropractic and Children Wellness in April of 2020. She is currently gaining first-hand experience on how life-changing benefits Gonstead chiropractic care can be for so many types of people.
She is a full-time student at California State University, Long Beach with anticipated graduation in 2021. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and dogs. She loves going out for boba and plant shopping, but she can never pass up an opportunity to nap.
